While the US Box Lacrosse Association (USBOXLA) has no upcoming sanctioned events or tournaments taking place for several weeks, the association would like to remind members taking part in any activities outside of their homes - lacrosse or otherwise - to ensure they are taking the proper precautionary measures during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak in order to limit the continued spread of the virus, as well as for their own health and safety.
Symptoms of the virus include a fever, cough and shortness of breath, occurring 2-14 days after exposure. Anyone experiencing these or any similar symptoms should stay home.
USBOXLA urges their member clubs to take all reasonable precautions at any upcoming gatherings they may have scheduled, ensuring the health and safety of all players, coaches, officials, staff, etc. If possible, to impede the spread of the virus, USBOXLA strongly suggests cancelling any of these upcoming gatherings altogether.
If you do decide to participate in any activities with your club, please be reminded that the practice of handshakes, high-fives, fist bumps, etc. between players, coaches, officials, and spectators should not occur.
What you should do to limit the likelihood of contracting COVID-19:
USBOXLA’s next scheduled association-sanctioned event does not occur until May 23 in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. That event or any scheduled after the May 23 tournament have not been cancelled at this time. Updates will be provided if the status of any USBOXLA events change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
